Panayiotis Nikoalou
Internship (December 2016 – June 2017)
Panayiotis is a University of Bristol Law School (UK) graduate. He was a junior researcher at the Margarida Losa Institute of the University of Porto working on the intersexualities project. Before he arrived in Porto, he was employed by the Law office of the Republic of Cyprus as a trainee lawyer where he worked on numerous cases in Employment Law, International and European Union Law and briefly in Tort Law. His degree thesis was in the field of International Law and examined the legality of the concept of Humanitarian Intervention. Throughout his university years, he developed an interest in feminism and gender studies and took courses in Jurisprudence and Sex, Gender & Law. His research, for the purposes of these modules, focused on occupational inequality and the anti-pornography movement. He has also spent a term in South Korea as a student of the International affairs school of Seoul National University. Other fields of academic interest include International Relations, Human Rights and Russian thought.
